The Sara Carreira Association is organizing a Stand Up solidarity event in Alcácer do Sal, with the aim of raising funds to help Tiago Santana, a 19-year-old suffering from Duchenn Muscular Dystrophy. This highly disabling disease causes the progressive weakening of all the muscles in the body, seriously affecting Tiago’s quality of life.
In his day-to-day life, Tiago gets around in an electric wheelchair and depends completely on the help of his family to carry out all his daily activities.
His illness has required constant monitoring at various health institutions, including the Lisbon Hospital Centre, Santa Maria Hospital and the Setúbal and Litoral Alentejano hospitals. However, the journeys to these places are made in a car that doesn’t have the right conditions and where his wheelchair barely fits.
Tiago’s biggest dream is to be able to travel safely in a vehicle adapted to his physical condition. This Stand Up Solidarity event aims to make that dream a reality by raising enough money to buy an adapted van.
The event will take place at the Gracieta Baião Alcácer do Sal Pavilion on 14 September and will feature Fernando Rocha, of whom Tiago is a fan.
We are asking for your help in promoting this event, so that we can mobilize the community and reach as many people as possible.
Together, we can make a difference to Tiago Santana’s life!
Tickets are available at Ticketline, Worten and Fnac. If people want to make a direct donation, they can do so to the Association’s IBAN: PT50 0018 0003 53531646020 34 with the reference TiagoSantana.
